Pacing With A March

When combined with marching the pace can be used as a travelling step. If you haven't already read the explanation for pacing before trying this one.

How To Pace With A March

1. Start with the feet together. Lift the left leg up off the floor fairly high but keep both legs bent. At the same time as the leg lifts bring the right hand down towards it.

2. Bring the left leg back down at the same time as you're pacing the right hand out to the right side at a near horizontal line (doesn't need to be perfect). When the foot hits the ground the arm will be to the side.

3. Lift the right leg off the floor fairly high keeping both legs bent. The right hand comes down towards the leg.

4. Bring the right leg down at the same time as you're pacing the right hand out to the right side at a horzintal-ish line. By the time the foot reaches the ground the arm will be to the side.

Repeat steps 1 to 4 as many times as you wish.

It is easy to do this move if you learn pacing on the spot first. And then start marching your legs in a regular rhythm left leg first then right and continually switching legs. And then start pacing as you keep the legs moving.

Once you realize the ordering of the move, i.e. that only when the foot hits the ground does the arm pace out to the side, then the move becomes relatively easy to perform.
