Hand Clap 1

Hand claps were some of the earliest moves in locking before The Lockers formed and each of the dancers contributed their own signature dance steps.

The main ways of doing claps will be covered in the next few pages.

How To Do Hand Claps (1)

1. Bring your arms forward and let the forearms dangle below the elbows.

2. Using the area from the elbows to the forerams, rotate both arms outwards in circles.

3. On the second rotation as the arms go around clap your hands behind your back.

Step 1 is a preliminary position to loosen the arm. Usually you will go straight from that position into step 2 and 3 (without dangling the forearms).

When you are confident try combining the hand claps with some marching. You should be able to complete the move in 2 beats as the legs march left then right.
